The Kwara State Government has officially reaffirmed that the 2026 Placement Examination, commonly referred to as the Common Entrance Examination, remains entirely free of charge for all eligible pupils in public and private primary schools across the state.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, emphasized that the examination is fully funded by the state government. He explicitly directed all principals and headteachers to adhere strictly to this policy, noting that no authorized fees exist for participating candidates.

The reaffirmation underscores the administration’s focus on equitable access to quality education. The government has issued a stern warning to school administrators, stating that:


  • Zero-Tolerance for Extortion: No school official is permitted to collect money from parents or guardians under any guise during the examination process.
  • Sanctions for Violations: The Ministry has made it clear that any reports of unauthorized charges will be thoroughly investigated, and officials found guilty of extortion will face appropriate legal sanctions.
  • Accountability Measures: To ensure the integrity of the process, the Ministry has established a dedicated "C2C" (Citizen-to-Citizen) help line where parents and guardians can report any demands for illegal payments.
