UBA Rewards Customer Loyalty with Over โฆ400m Bumper Account Anniversary Bonus
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has paid out more than โฆ400 million in anniversary bonuses to thousands of customers under its flagship UBA Bumper Account, marking one of the largest loyalty payouts since the product's launch. The savings scheme rewards customers annually on the anniversary of their account for maintaining and growing their deposits, with qualifying customers receiving the cash bonuses directly into their accounts.
UBA's Head of Retail Products, Tomiwa Sotiloye, said the milestone reflects the bank's effort to give customers tangible returns for their loyalty. "At UBA, we believe customer loyalty deserves meaningful recognition. Every bonus paid is our way of saying 'thank you' to customers who continue to trust us with their financial aspirations," he said, adding that surpassing the โฆ400 million mark demonstrates the bank's commitment to products that both encourage saving and reward it. He noted that both new and existing customers can open a Bumper Account through any UBA branch, the bank's mobile app, USSD code *919#, or online, to position themselves for future anniversary payouts.
UBA's Group Head of Brands, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, added that the initiative reflects the bank's broader customer-first philosophy, describing the payout as evidence of UBA's effort to make banking more rewarding while deepening customer trust. The Bumper Account remains one of UBA's flagship retail savings products, combining competitive returns, digital accessibility and loyalty incentives as part of the bank's wider financial inclusion strategy.
The announcement came alongside a separate initiative in which UBA mobilized thousands of employees across its 20 African markets for a coordinated environmental clean-up campaign under its "Jogging to Bond" wellness programme, themed "The Power Within U." This year's exercise coincided with the 60th birthday of Group Managing Director/CEO Oliver Alawuba, who joined staff in the activity. UBA serves more than 45 million customers across 20 African countries as well as the UK, US, France and the UAE.
